New franchise Sahara Pune Warriors got a perfect start of their IPL journey with a thumping 7 wickets win over Kings XI Punjab with 41 balls remaining in the 5th match of 2011 IPL 4, on Sunday, 10th April, 2011 at New Mumbai. KXIP made 112/8 in 20 overs and SPW made 113/3 in 13.1 overs.
Kings XI Punjab got the worst start of 2011 IPL, lost 4 wickets for just 9 runs and further struggling at 45-6 and then Ryan McLaren who hit unbeaten 51* runs put a respective total of 112/8, as Sri Kanth Wagh bowled brilliantly for 3-16. Sahara Pune Warriors then lost Smith without a run but Ryder 31 off 17 balls and Manhas 35 runs made a platform for Yuvraj 21* & Uthappa 22* complete a comfortable win.
